Let's Talk About Curtains

Window treatments can be very tricky. Each window has its own unique requirements to consider before dressing. Be versatile and consider carefully what will suit each one. It is also a big investment so take your time and get someone with experience, or better still a professional to advise you before you make any commitments to a certain style. Here are a few points to consider.

Height

Full length curtain

Height is the most important factor in selecting curtains. A curtain should extend well past your window, and land just on the floor. My top tip: if you want to make your ceilings look higher than they actually are, hang your curtains a few inches above your windows or use a ceiling fix track.     Colour

Light weight curtains

When choosing curtain colours, look for something that will compliment the rooms existing colour palette. I am passionate about colour and I like to encourage clients to choose something beyond a plain neutral but it's important to look at the whole design and sometimes neutral is perfect.     Fabric

Open Plan living

Consider how much light and warmth there is in the room and what the purpose of the curtains will be. If it’s a dark room choose use a heavier weight fabric in a warm colour. If the light floods into the room that you use to relax and watch the telly in, use a fabric that can block the sun.
