Tiny Bathrooms!

Tiny Bathroom

The smaller the room the bolder the décor!

What I mean is that in a small room you must be concise. In fact, a minimal approach works really well in a small space but the most important consideration to making the best of a tiny bathroom are the tiny details.

Storage for a tiny bathroom

Planning and storage are the key factors to making this small space feel, well, less small! Take the time to consider all the small details and you will reap the rewards of a sleek bathroom sanctuary when you are done.

Where you can, invest in slimline storage cabinets so you keep all the clutter hidden from sight. Go with a wall mounted style. Lifting furniture of the floor visually makes the space feel bigger. This will reduce the sense of overwhelm. If you need shelves choose glass ones so the items appear to float.

Bring the room together by matching key elements, for instance match the radiator colour to the work top, use the same metal finishes on taps and mirrors. And, of course, you must paint the room one colour, ceilings, walls, woodwork, window frames, all ONE colour! It’s cool to mix up the patterns with tiles and wallpaper in a big family bathroom but avoiding overwhelm is the goal for a small bathroom space so keep it simple here.

Always go oversized on the mirror. The reflection will bounce the light around the room and make the space feel so much bigger. I love using curved shaped mirrors in bathrooms. A curve brings interest and counteracts the hard clinical edges.

Mirrors in small bathrooms

In a small bathroom the devil is in the detail and you should really consider which elements the user is going to notice. This is where to spend a bit more than on other items. I think the taps and the mirror are key.

Using textiles on the window is a way of adding a bit of pattern but remember to keep it simple and consider layer the textures not colours.

In a tiny bathroom do fixate on the tiny details. Do plan it out thoroughly. Do invest in the perfect storage and you won’t regret it!
